Racine Unified School District, Wisconsin, Selects Infinite Campus
January 26, 2015 – Blaine, Minn. – After using the same student information system (SIS) for more than 20 years, it was time for Wisconsin’s fifth-largest school district to make a change. With the selection of Infinite Campus District Edition, Racine Unified School District (RUSD) looks forward to having an SIS that stakeholders can easily navigate and efficiently query for important student data.
Several factors led to RUSD choosing Infinite Campus, including advanced reporting capabilities and an updated interface. “We experienced many challenges with our old SIS simply because its interface was not user-friendly,” says James DePue, Supervisor of Student and Instructional Systems Data for RUSD. “Every stakeholder who attended the Infinite Campus demo liked the system’s very contemporary interface and that it’s so easy to navigate.”
Jeff Gibson, Wisconsin Account Manager for Infinite Campus, says RUSD will modernize its teaching and learning with a single solution SIS. RUSD joins more than 125 Wisconsin districts using Campus, including 70-plus that switched last year. “We welcome RUSD to our fast-growing network of Wisconsin districts. It’s an honor to manage the district’s student data and to serve more than 50 percent of the state’s student population.”
RUSD selected Cloud Choice Hosting, one of three Infinite Campus options, to ensure data will always be secure and readily available. The district’s previous vendor outsourced hosting to a third-party, with less than satisfactory results.
We run more than 40 exports daily and report querying was very slow because of limited bandwidth,” says DePue. “It just became too challenging to pull necessary data from the system.”
RUSD is maximizing its investment in the core SIS with two Premium Products, Online Registration and Data Health Check. According to DePue, the first will save the district more than just time and the second provides a benefit beyond more accurate data.
“Campus Online Registration provides a huge savings since the cost of our old vendor’s registration product was much higher,” says DePue. “Data Health Check will clean our data and identify training needs. If we see data-related issues popping up in a department or building, we can immediately direct those users to Campus University for tutorials.”
The go-live for RUSD is scheduled for the summer of 2015. DePue has full confidence in a smooth implementation based on personal experience and feedback from Infinite Campus customers in Wisconsin. Additionally, the district is excited about its future with Infinite Campus.
“I previously worked in an Iowa district that switched to Infinite Campus and that migration went very well,” says DePue. “And we talked to the Green Bay and Kenosha districts, both of which were very happy with their implementations and decisions to purchase Infinite Campus. We are getting the best SIS available today and we’re very confident in where Campus is headed in the future.”
